Managing customer relationships is undoubtedly one of the most critical activities that takes place within a business. Not only are account managers responsible for retaining customers, but they are relied upon to build relationships with key stakeholders and influence important purchasing decisions.

Some of ViaTech’s biggest accounts have been placed in the trusting hands of Paulette Harris, who has been with the company for five years. Paulette works in ViaTech’s Atlanta office, onboarding clients, answering their questions and identifying new business opportunities. Here are her thoughts on working for ViaTech.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am originally from Guyana and moved to the U.S. in 2002 to marry my childhood sweetheart. We have been married for 17 years, and together we live in Decatur, Georgia. I have three brothers and two sisters, and I am the second youngest. 

What are your responsibilities at ViaTech? 

I am an Account Manager for multiple IBM accounts, ELI, Sage and ADP. I also provide support for other Atlanta-based accounts, such as Garmin.

How has ViaTech’s business and culture evolved since you started?  

Roles are much better defined than when I arrived, and the account support structure has really improved!

What’s the best part about your job? 

The best part about my job is working on projects with customers and providing support during the ViaOne onboarding process. I love it!

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned from working at ViaTech?   

I’ve learned how to work more independently.

What makes you effective in your role as account manager? 

I believe experience is one reason, but the trust I’ve built with our customers has also made me more effective.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of ViaTech?  

I love working in my garden, cooking, spending time with my family, listening to music, reading a good novel and taking my dog, Maxine, for walks.
